Dr. Chagpar graduated with honors from University of Alberta in Edmonton, where she also completed medical school. After completing her residency and Masters degree in surgery at University of Saskatchewan, she completed the Susan G. Komen Interdisciplinary Breast Cancer Fellowship at University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.

In 2003, she joined the faculty of the University of Louisville, where she is Director of James Graham Brown Multidisciplinary Breast Clinic, Director of the Norton Breast Health Program and Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery's Division of Surgical Oncology at University of Louisville School of Medicine.

Dr. Chagpar is the first Susan G. Komen Interdisciplinary breast surgical oncology fellow trained at MD Anderson, the #1 cancer center in the United States according to US News and World Report. Dr. Chagpar performs only breast surgical oncology -- 100% of the time. This kind of specialized training allows for excellence in a small, defined area.

Dr. Chagpar has won countless awards in her field, including several research awards including American Society of Clinical Oncology Merit Award among others.

She is a member of several professional societies, including American College of Surgeons Oncology Group, American Association of Cancer Research, American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society of Breast Surgeons, Society of Surgical Oncology and Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
